Pattern Corrections for Autumn Cross HST-007
(added 5/19/15)
The designer recommends using a triangle ruler when putting together the Autumn Cross quilt pattern. If you simply cannot get one, you can use a square ruler turned on point. Rotate the ruler 45 degrees so the corner is pointing straight up on your sewn strip of fabric and cut along each side. This, however, will not contain a built-in seam allowance. Each of your triangle units will be slightly smaller than the dimensions provided in the pattern. Because the blocks are all constructed in the same manner, it would still work. You would just have slightly smaller blocks and therefore a smaller quilt by several inches in each direction. If you decide to improvise in this manner, keep in mind that with slightly smaller blocks, you will need to trim you sashing pieces to match.
One other option is to print out the document here. and cut out the triangle provided to use as a template when cutting.
