Diane Weber - Sew Biz

Diane Weber teaches at shops in the San Jose, CA, area as well as for guilds throughout CA. Diane is also a member of the faculty at Quilt Hawaii (2001 & 2002). She specializes in Japanese design quilts, dimensional techniques, and the use of color in quilts. Diane also designs and makes original quilts for fabric designers and manufacturers, currently designing for JHK Studios. Her first commercial pattern, The Slider, is available as of April 2002.

Diane says....

Like many quilters, I began sewing as a child. My mom didn't quilt, but she did make doll clothes, including tiny Barbie clothes, on her Singer treadle sewing machine, which she still uses today.

I began quilting in 1993, in an effort to use up the many scraps of fabric I had accumulated through the years of sewing. Since then, I have completed many, many full size quilts and wall hangings, using as many techniques and learning as much as I could absorb. My mission now is to pass that learning, and the love of quilting, on to others. I've taught at several shops and for guilds in California, and am part of the teaching staff at Quilt Hawaii in 2001 & 2002.

My quilts have been accepted in juried competitions including the Kutztown Pennsylvania German Festival; Quilt Hawaii, and the Pacific International Quilt Festival. I’ve won a Viewer's Choice Award at the San Mateo Sewing, Quilting and Craft Exposition, and two ribbons at the Marin Quilt and Needle Arts Show. My original designs have been published as pattern sheets by Springs Industries Quilters Only, and Fabri-Quilt, Inc. Look for my “I Spy” quilt in ASN's Look What I See Quilts book.

I pride myself on keeping up with the latest tools and techniques, continue my own education by attending seminars and conferences with top-name teachers, and constantly adding to my class offerings to bring the latest and greatest to my students. I can do all this and work full-time as a Project Manager at eBay because of the support of my wonderful teenage daughter and husband.
